How to Give Text Color in HTML?

In this article I am going to show you how use the font tag to change the color of your fonts

**********************   BUT   ********************************************

you should be using CSS to format your text.  Using the font tag is the OLD WAY and CSS is the NEW WAY!

Having made that caveat, here is how you can give color to your text in HTML:

<font color=”red”>text</font> is the simplest and easiest way to add color to your font.  This will work for around 17 colors: black, silver, gray, navy, blue, aqua, teal, purple, fuchsia, white, lime, green, maroon, red, orange, yellow, and olive.
But tell me, how many time do you want these colors?  Not many!  So you really want to learn how to use the hexadecimal codes for colors.
Using hexadecimal code for your font color will look like this:
font color=”#ffffaa”>text</font>
This number has several features:
1. It is 6 digits long
2. It has a # sign in front
3. It is hexadecimal
What does hexadecimal mean?  I’m not going to give you a math lesson but here are the basics. Our number system is decimal or ten digits ranging from 0 -9.  Hexadecimal is base 16 and is made up of digits 0-9 and A,B,C,D,E,F.
The six hexadecimal digits are broken into pairs to describe the color.  The first two hexadecimal digits represent the red element, the next two the green and the last two the blue.
An illustration will help.
Red would be FF0000.
Green would be 00FF00
Blue would be 0000FF
White is FFFFFF
Black is 000000
So if someone talks about the RGB values of a color they are talking about the Red, Green and Blue values which make up the color.
The # sign at the beginning of the hexadecimal digits tells the browser the next 3 pairs of digits are the RGB color.
Now, if you really want to stretch your mind, each pair can range in value from 0 to 255 (00 – FF). With three pairs you now have over 16 million different colors!  Pretty cool…
Enough of the math.  If you want to have fun with this, just pick up a free software called ColorCop.  You can match find the color of any section of a web page just by moving the dropper around.
More on that later,,,
